Bread Riot Program Impacts
We’re wrapping up the year by reviewing our 2025 programs—by the numbers!
As we get ready for a new year, we’re taking some time to assess Bread Riot’s 2025 programs and review a by-the-numbers snapshot of their impacts on our community!
In Rowan County, approximately 16% of residents are food insecure, and 21% of children live in food-insecure homes, according to the most recent community health needs assessment. Bread Riot’s mission is to link farms to tables by supporting our small farmers and providing access to locally produced foods throughout the community. Each year, various Bread Riot programs help to fulfill this mission.
In 2025, Bread Riot paid $35,428 to farmers for locally produced goods and awarded $16,000 in grants to Rowan County farmers to help them grow!
In 2025, Bread Riot gave out 360 School Harvest Bags, served 553 families at Summer Feed Sites, and distributed a total of 24,405 pounds of locally produced goods to the community through our programs!
These impacts are made possible by the dedicated, hardworking and generous folks involved in our programs. This year, 368 volunteer opportunities were filled!
THANK YOU!
Let's see if we can boost these numbers in 2026 by supporting more local farmers and helping to reduce the number of Rowan County residents facing food insecurity.
