Registration Open for 2026 Apprenticeship Program

Bread Riot and Rowan County farmers are partnering to offer small-scale farming apprenticeships this spring.

Individuals interested in small-scale farming, market gardening, or homesteading now have the opportunity to learn the basics of growing food directly from an experienced Rowan County farmer!

Bread Riot is partnering with several local farmers to offer hands-on apprenticeships, starting in spring 2026.

The “Grow a Farmer” program will be limited to three to four persons who are serious about implementing these practices in their own life. Apprenticeships will be 15 weeks, working and learning on the farm for 20 hours per week, or can be tailored to your needs and interests. Farmers will pay apprentices an hourly wage. Must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Apprenticeships will start in spring 2026. To attend an interest meeting, register here by January 31, 2026.
