The Bread Riot is currently working on creating a Winter Harvest Program to start after The Farmer Market Closes. Our hopes our to continue to be able to support our Rowan County Farmers, as well as continue to eat local and what will be harvested through the winter. Please keep in mind this is a new program for us, so there may be changes along the way. We are hoping to make a pickup every two weeks to the participating farms. Most of the box will be produce (or cold crop vegetables) and we will be adding a little something extra to each box depending on what is being harvested. Example, pecans, mushrooms, eggs, bacon, sweet potatoes, cheese or milk all from local Rowan County Farms. If you do not eat any of the above items, be sure to communicate with me, so it will not be added to your box. View the participating farmers and see what they have to offer below. Let me know if you are interested. We are going to start with a $50 per family deposit to place into a "kitty" to get us going. We have found most CSA's average around $15 per week or pickup. We will be doing a pickup every two weeks (unless we can gather volunteers to assist us with weekly pickups). Please contact me if you are interested in assisting us with these pickups...Each pickup will be brought to a set location (probably my house) and you will be responsible for picking up your box at this location. If you have any milk crates which can be donated for use, let me know. This will be a trial run, but we feel we will be spending around $20 every two weeks. $10- 15 going towards the produce and the rest going towards the "specialty" item. When the kitty is close to being empty, we will establish another deposit amount depending on how long the money lasted. We are very excited about being able to offer another program to you and hope you will be interested in participating. Send me a response by October 24th if you are interested in participating.
